The Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas (CPRIT) announces a new award targeting early-state oncology startups. The new grant mechanism, known as the Seed Award, allows companies to apply for up to $3 million in nondilutive funding to support development of innovative cancer therapeutics, diagnostics, or tools. The goal of the award is to assist startups in bridging the gap between translational research and product development.
To qualify for up to $3 million in project funding, companies must be based in Texas or commit to relocate to Texas upon receipt of award. Furthermore, companies interested in this award will need to apply and undergo CPRIT’s peer review process.
Applications for FY 2019 Cycle 1 will open on June 28th, and close on August 8th. The award will be announced in February 2019. A second funding round is anticipated to be announced in December 2018.
